Proof of English ability. If you aren’t a native English speaker or you do not fall into an exemption category, you may be required to provide English language test results demonstrating that you meet the minimum requirements for the course. In Australia, all classes are taught in English, and the language requirements for each education level are different. Schools may also have their own requirements. Accredited English tests in Australia include IELTS, TOEFL, PTE, Cambridge English: Advanced and Occupational English.

Be a genuine temporary entrant. You must study in Australia, and stay in Australia only for the duration of your student visa and intend to return home at the end of your course.

Health requirement. All international students are required to have a medical examination before entering Australia and provide a medical certificate to demonstrate that they meet the health requirement.

Overseas Student Health Cover. Except for students from Norway, Sweden and Belgium covered by specific schemes, all international students must have OSHC for the whole of their stays in Australia. Your cover must start from the day you and your family arrive in Australia, not the day your course starts.
