Training Visa (Subclass 407)
407 visa is a short-term training visa that merges two subclasses of the previous 402 visa, which are professional development and occupational trainee. However, 407 visa is still a short-term training visa, which is applicable to overseas applicants who go to Australia for short-term vocational or professional training. Even though 407 visa is cumbersome in the application process, it is of huge advantages, especially the first type of workplace-based training.
Advantage 1: Paid job training opportunities
DHA stipulates that the sponsor must pay the corresponding wages of vocational training employees in accordance with the local laws of Australia, and the wages shall not be lower than that of equivalent local employees in Australia (the legal minimum hourly wage in Australia is about AUD18).
Advantage 2: Wide range of vocational training programs
Australia’s vocational training programs have matured considerably, and some of which are directly funded and assisted by the Australian government. There are very mature vocational training programs for aged care, child care, construction, etc.
Advantage 3: Lay a solid foundation for late immigration
By this chance, 407 visa holders can learn about the real employment environment in Australia, further deepen their professional skills, and lay a solid foundation for applying for long-term work visas in the future after accumulating relevant work experience.
